Just a quick reminder that Free School Meals have changed and you might now be eligible. 

The rules have changed for FSM (new rules just started from 1stSept) and now thousands more families are eligible - if someone receives Universal credit (regardless of household income) their child will receive FSM they just need to fill in an online form on the LCC website to apply  Free school meals - Lancashire County Council

Why Should I apply?

Applying means your child can receive a free, healthy meal every school day, supporting their health, well being and learning.

Families who receive Universal Credit could save up to £495 per year for each child on school lunches!

Schools receive additional funding (known as Pupil Premium) for every eligible child, which is used to support learning, resources and enrichment opportunities. 

Even if your child sometimes chooses packed lunches, registering still matters. It helps schools understand what support pupils may need and can unlock other help.

Will this affect me or my child negatively?

No, applying for free schoolmeals:

• Does not affect your benefits or immigration status

• Does not mean your child has to take a school meal if they do not want to 

• Does not label or single out your child (schools treat this information confidentially)

• Does not reduce support for other pupils

Holiday Activity & Food programme aims to provide a range of enjoyable activities and nutritious meals for primary and secondary school aged children who are eligible for benefits-related free school meals.

The England-wide Holiday Activities and Food Programme is funded by the Department for Education and distributed through Lancashire County Council. Rossendale Leisure Trust were asked by Rossendale Borough Council to become the lead body, responsible for HAF in the borough.

All activity providers were Rossendale or Lancashire based, ensuring the scheme supported local businesses as well as local families.  

From Grip & Go at Adrenaline, Tubing at The Hill, Multiskills at local schools, Emma’s Crazy Creature, Hula hooping with Laura from The Valley Hoopers are just a couple of fun activities the children took part in over Summer and Winter as part of HAF.
