Join St Peter’s — a smaller-than-average, Outstanding primary school where staff make a real difference to children’s lives every day. This casual role offers flexible hours supporting classroom learning, lunchtime provision and our after-school club as needed. This will be communicated on a weekly basis.

About the role

As a casual Teaching Assistant (FLW as a TA 1) you will:

  • Work alongside teachers and support staff to help pupils access learning, manage behaviour and develop important social skills such as turn-taking and concentration.

  • Support small groups and individual pupils, including those with SEND, following guidance from teachers and specialists.

  • Contribute to a calm, welcoming environment that supports pupils’ wellbeing and learning.

  • Share strategies and communicate effectively with colleagues to maintain consistency of support.

This role is a casual worker contract (zero-hours arrangement) based on the school’s weekly needs.

  • Have had experience of working with primary-age children, including those with additional needs and varied backgrounds.

  • Skilled in building warm, trusting relationships with pupils, helping them to engage, persevere and learn.

  • Reliable, flexible and able to respond to changing needs across the school day.
