Tuesday 19th January

To draw inference from a text and justify with evidence.

Reading

  1. Look at Chapter 1 and 2 again and scan the story.
  2. Think about how the farmers are described in these chapters. How is Mr Fox and his family described? What can you say about the farmers and Mr Fox’s relationship? What word did we look at yesterday which described the farmers characters?
  3. Copy and complete these sentences in your books. Remember to use the words from the text in your answer. Remember that your answer must be evidence for the statement.

(Use page 1) I can say that the farmers were horrible people because the text says that…

(Use page 8) I can say that Mr Fox is brainier than the farmers because the text says that…

  1. True or false? Read the statement and decide whether it is true or false. Copy the statements below in your books and complete the full sentence with evidence from the text.

(use page 8) The farmers didn’t mind that Mr Fox stole their food.

This is (true/false) because the text says that…

(use page 4) Bean didn’t like to eat food.

This is (true/false) because the text says that…

      5.  Write some more ‘I can say’ sentences or ‘true/false’ sentences of your own.

Don’t forget to use the evidence from the text!
