Mrs L. Davies - Chair of Governors (Co-Opted)
I joined the governing body in October 2015 as a Foundation Governor and in December 2017 I became the Chair. I enjoy fulfilling my role as a governor as I am a former pupil of the school, both my children attended and I am a lifelong member of St Peters Parish. My professional background has been in sales and finance. I have worked in accounts departments on sales and purchase ledgers and am currently the Manager of an industrial supply company. In my free time my passion has always been singing. I have been a member of Rossendale Ladies Choir since 1988 and I have been the treasurer since 2002. I am also a member of St Peters Church choir. I am honoured to be part of the governing body of this amazing school and am looking forward to supporting the head teacher and staff. I hope my own knowledge and life experiences can help to maintain the high standards that have already been set at the school.
Mrs H. Sullivan - (Headteacher)
As Headteacher of St Peter's since January 2013 I have the joy of seeing how our school continues to flourish and develop on a daily basis. I feel very fortunate to be blessed with supportive parents, talented staff, committed governors and of course the most delightful children! Not a days goes by without the sound of laughter filling our learning environment; it really is such a happy place to be. Away from school I am a Mum to two young children and enjoy spending time with my family and friends and appreciating the precious little moments life offers us each and every day.
Mrs E. Bacon - Acting Deputy Head Teacher (Staff Governor)
I joined the teaching staff at St Peter’s early in 2009 and since then have relished being part of a professional team and school family which has strived to achieve and maintain outstanding education for our children. I am a relatively late convert to teaching, retraining after careers as a national newspaper journalist and full-time mum of two. I am St Peter’s Class 1 teacher and I adore welcoming our new children in September and seeing them flourish as the year progresses. I am also school’s reading subject leader and am passionate about finding better ways to engender the love for and skills needed for reading in our children. Beyond school I love spending time with my family, muddy walks in the glorious north-west countryside, wine-tasting, reading, music and gardening.
Mr B. Smith - School Bursar (Observer)
I joined the staff in September 2013 as an apprentice teaching assistant where I then moved into the office as an apprentice administrative assistant then continuing as admin assistant until September 2020 where I became the school Bursar. I am very proud I play a part in helping our outstanding school be a fantastic and safe place where children can learn and have fun on a daily basis.
In my spare time I love to spend time with my girlfriend and our dog Sammy while also going places to visit and making memories.
Dr S. Lea - Vice Chair of Finance, Premises, Health & Safety Committee (Foundation)
I became a Foundation Governor in March 2015 but I am also a proud parent at St Peters. My role as a governor allows me to take an active part in the school family and work alongside others to maintain the extremely high standards set out by the school. I work in scientific research at the University of Manchester and have additional roles in recruitment, finance and management of both people and projects. Outside of work I enjoy playing rugby but mostly spending time with my family and friends.
Mrs A. Goy (Foundation)
I joined the governing body as a parent foundation governor in September 1996 and succeeded Joe Connolly as Chair of Governors in 2006. I have a special affection for St Peter`s; I am a former pupil and my 3 children also attended the school. It is a pleasure and a privilege to be able to give something back to the school by supporting the head teacher and staff in their aim to provide your children with the best possible education in a caring and safe environment.
I have many years of management experience in the Civil Service and have applied that experience when working on the full range of governor committees and with the head teacher and staff. During my time as a governor I have seen the school go through many challenges and changes. The school has improved each time and staff and governors are determined to work together to continue that progress.
Mr D. Norman (Parent)
I joined the governing body as a parent governor in July 2018 and am proud I can play a part in helping the school be a fantastic place where children can learn, have fun and feel part of something special on a daily basis
Being the parent of two boys who attend the school I have experienced first-hand the dedication, enthusiasm and care each member of staff has for every child in this amazing 'family' and by being a governor I hope to offer help and support to ensure this continues.
I have worked across many different sectors in finance and management and I hope this will prove to be of value to the school leadership and Governing Body.
Outside of work I enjoy spending time with family and friends, running and walking.
Mrs C. Langan (Foundation)
I joined as a foundation governor in October 2014 and am very proud to be a part of the ongoing development of the school. Both my children attended St. Peter's and now my grandson's are following in their footsteps. My background is in the social housing sector and I have a wide range of management experience which I hope will be of value to St. Peter's. I feel strongly that every child is special and the provision of a caring, supportive, stimulating, and happy school environment is key to a child's development. I am grateful for the opportunity to be involved in such an outstanding school.
Mrs H. Thornton - Vice Chair of Curriculum, Staffing & Standards Committee (Parent)
I have two daughters at St. Peter’s in years 4 and 6 and I have a keen interest in the life of the school and like to help where I possibly can. I am an active member of the FOSP team and hope I can bring enthusiasm and represent the views of the parents at school as a parent governor. I work at the Co-op Food and love walking with my family in my spare time.
Mr S. Newton - Chair of Curriculum, Staffing & Standards Committee (Foundation)
I joined the governing body in 2019 and I have been a governor in Manchester and Bury in the past. I am passionate about education especially for those in my community and I am committed to supporting the school in setting and exceeding the best possible standards. In addition to my role as a governor for the school I work as a Head of Service within the NHS with a range of responsibilities and have worked in the Public Sector for my entire career in commercially focussed positions. I have a son and I am expecting, with my wife, a second this year. When I am not on Lego or nappy duty, I maintain an interest in sports, books, film and music with a building collection of vinyl.

All governors can be contacted through the school address.
'The governing body forms a vital part of the team here at St. Peter's and the school benefits greatly from the support and challenge it offers. The governing body meets as a whole once every term.
There are two committees of the governing body which meet a minimum of once every term. They are the Curriculum and Staffing Committee and the Finance and Premises Committee.
There is a real depth of experience and expertise across the governing body and all governors strive to ensure St. Peter's is providing the quality Catholic education every child deserves.'
